• Put hamburger meat in a bigger bowl.
  • Pour ¼ cup of Worcestershire sauce over meat (1 teaspoon for 1 burger; ¼ cup if you are making 4 burgers and 1/8 cup if you are making 2 burgers).
  • Mix sauce into meat with your hands.
  • Form patties.
  • Put butter in frying pan. Heat on high.
  • When pan is hot (about a minute), put patties in pan. Let them sear (about 30 seconds), then turn heat to medium.
  • Let patties cook undisturbed for 4 minutes.
  • Flip patties. Turn oven broiler on.
  • Let burgers cook for another 4 minutes.
  • Slice thin slices of cheddar cheese.
  • Put burgers on a cookie sheet.
  • Place slices of cheese on patties.
  • Put cookie sheet in oven.
  • Watch cheese through window. When it’s almost done melting, take burgers out.
  • Shut off oven.
  • Put burgers on buns.
  • Apply condiments.
